When we decided to make the move to California, people would always tell us, "Oh, good luck, it is so expensive to live in California!" And I would just say haha yeah... and think to myself, "I really don't think it's that bad.." Of course I never really took into account what my financial experiences were when I was living in CA.... NONE! I was living with my parents. I didn't pay for food, rent, utilities, insurances, bills, etc.

Needless to say, I now know what people mean by saying that it is super expensive to live in CA. All I thought that was going to be more expensive was rent. I never took into account that food would be sooooo much! The movie theater here cost us $24 dollars for the both of us! I miss the dollar theaters!! Now that we have "grown up" jobs, we will be paying for our own cell phone service, insurances, etc. It was a great thing for both of our parents to help us out these past couple of years, we were so spoiled and we are so so grateful for them helping us! But now working it into the budget is going to be a challenge. It all seems overwhelming. We have rent, bills, school loans, food, tithing of course, insurances, luckily both of us have cars that are completely payed off, but anyways... We are wanting to get people's advise as far as how to spend your mula.

What I really wanted to write this post about is debt. We have school debt that we need to start paying off. We have this "plan" to get all of our debt payed off in 2 years from now. How long did it take all of you to pay off your debts? I am not talking about house or car. Just school and credit card. I think it would be really smart if Josh and I could get some different stories. It would be good to know the steps you took, the things you did or didn't do, sacrifices you took, maybe , if you feel comfortable, to tell us how much debt you had and how long it took you to pay off, or the path you are on to eliminate it, etc. Ok.. get your comment on!!!!

Job offers = moving out of Utah = Moving to Glendale,CA BABY!!

Josh got a job offer last summer with the company he had interned for; Ernst & Young in LA. We actually had a choice between the LA office and the Irvine office. We decided on LA for a few reasons;

1. Josh has more opportunities in the LA office verses the Irvine office,

2. I have a better chance succeeding as a hair stylist in LA, more opportunities as well for my career,

and 3. LA is awesome!

We graduated in April, stayed in Utah for the summer working full time, and then almost 4 weeks ago, we moved to Glendale, CA! Josh, Bear, and I absolutely love it here in Glendale! We are living in a 1 bedroom tiny apartment, but we all love it so much. Our last house was great at first, but with our landlord not willing to fix things, and he eventually got the house foreclosed and lost it to the bank, it was definitely about time we were OUTTA THERE. Plus there was no dishwasher, no air conditioning, no ventilation which meant that we had to leave the heater running a lot of the time so we could keep our teeth from chattering! That lead to extremely high bills, and lets not even get into our basement neighbors!!! Uhhh!!! Oh, and IDK if you know, but I am absolutely TERRIFIED of spiders. Just ask Josh, or my sister, Raechel. Anyways, our house was the place to be if you were a freakin spider! I'm pretty sure I had a few mini heart attackes just from spider incidents in that house, like the one time I woke up and got out of bed, and there was a spider exactly where I was just laying were... Um... Yeah, I hyperventilated...

Anyways, back to my point, I am very happy with my new apartment. There is no washer and dryer inside the apartment, but we have them literally right next to us, which is nice, we don't have to deal with them heating up the entire house, and we have that much more room here in the house. New carpets, new appliances, modern feel, we have AC, hallelujah!! Plus, I have not seen a single spider inside the house yet. There are, however some pretty huge freakin spiders outside, but as long as they are not secretly stalking me inside my home like the last ones were, I'm ok!

Josh and I decided sometime last year that we were going to go to Hawaii when we graduated college. It seems like a far away dream, but luckily, time took it's course, and vwa-la; HAWAII!!!

We went in the middle of May for 10 days to Oahu! There is really nothing else to say, it's obvious it was amazing... I mean duh, it was HAWAII!!

FINALLY!!!!!

Well, both Josh and I graduated from school! Josh said that the feeling of never having to do homework EVER AGAIN was the best! It's so great to know that all you have been working for, trying to reach that huge goal of becoming a college graduate had finally payed off!

Last summer, Josh and I moved back in with my family so he could internship for Ernst & Young in Los Angeles. For those of you who do not know where my family lives, they live in Murrieta, CA. that is 80 miles away from LA. Yeah, it says 1 hour and 23 minutes, but that's WITHOUT traffic! He would spend on average, I think, 2 hours on his way in and then 2 on the way back. That was 4 hours each and every day in the car alone. It was all good though, because he was given a job offer before he was even finished with the internship. going back and completing his last year was a necessary evil. haha, not evil I guess, but he would laugh that he had a job, he just had to complete his last year in order to start it. So we went back up to Utah! He finished his last year, and I completed my hours at PMTS (Paul Mitchell the School). We both finished in April, and stayed in Utah for the summer. It was the smartest thing for us to do, since we both had full time good paying jobs.

UUm woopsies... Don't tell my blog this, but I totally forgot that I had one. I am not really good at this, I think it has a direct hit of me not being in the habit of writing in a journal either... eh, over it.

WELL.... lets start with where we last left off? Oh, that we got a puppy. Yes.

Bear is no longer a puppy. He is now one and a half years old now!

He knows probably around 25-30 commands/tricks. He is mostly obedient.

He is still a puppy, or has the maturity of one. Well, in dog years, he is 11 years old-ish? So yeah, he only disobeys if there is something

more exciting then me or josh around, and if we are

not around, he is not very obedient. My poor mom had to figure that out for us when she was puppy sitting him for us. :(

YEP!!! That's right!! We got a pomeranian FINALLY!! He is a boy, full bread, papered, and adorable! He was born on March 9th, 2010. His name is Cerberus Bear. For those of you who don't know what Cerberus means or comes from, it is the 3 headed dog from Greek Mythology that guards the doors to the underworld. :) Haha!! Anyways. here are some adorable pictures of him!

Well, since Christmas, there has been a lot that has happened!

Caper
My sister and I had an amazing opportunity to go to Caper which is a Paul Mitchell The School convention in Las Vegas. We got to meet a lot of Paul Mitchell Idols, they taught us what they know, how they made it to the top, what they did, what to do after we graduate, how to get to where you want to be, etc. It was so much fun!!
I also got an amazing oppurtunity to be a server! I now work at the bees, yes Applebees! I love it there! It is very nice, both of us having a job, we have been able to start building our savings (yesssssssssssssssss) and getting the things we need, like health insurance for me!

Valentines Day
I worked all day, but the day before, we went to Little Italy on the corner of center street and University. It is AMAZING!! here is a cute little picture of us!! After we ate, we went out to a movie, I don't remember which one... but it was a great night!! I am so glad that I found Joshua, he is the PERFECT man for me and I am so lucky to have him.

We spent Thanksgiving here in Utah this year. Josh had work and I had school. It was fun, we went to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Sandy. Very good cook, mmmmmmmmMmmmm! We were assigned to make an apple pie, and let me tell you, it was so good! I felt very proud of myself, and it was the first pie I had ever made!!! :)

CHRISTMAS!!!
This Christmas was the best one yet! We went to California on the 18th! We went to Disneyland and California Adventure on the 19th for Emily Duvall's 18th birthday!! Happy birthday Em! That was the first time that we went to Disneyland together. We went on so many rides!! Matterhorn, It's A Small Word After All, Indiana Jones, Autopia, Soaring Over California, Slash Mountain, Haunted House, Toy Story Game/Ride, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Star Tours, Tower of Terror, etc, and then we went on the Winnie the Poo Ride/Adventure!!! hahahhahha
We went and got free tortillas in Cali Adventure, they are so good!! Josh and I like the Flour more then the corn.

I got up at 4:45 the next morning to go fishing with my family and the Skousens, Josh decided to sleep in. I was SOOOOO excited to go fishing!! I don't know if a lot of people know this, but I absolutely LOVE fishing!! I became a fan 2 years ago at Lake Powell!! I think I was really spoiled with what type f fishing we did there, though. Blaine has this AMAZING boat that has a radar that shows what is directly beneath him, so we were able to cheat a lil bit... :) and on top of that... Blane has amazing fishing poles and amazing skill!!! I can still hear him yell, "OHHHHHH, FISH ON!!! FIIISSSHHHH OONNNNNN!!!!!!!!!" hahahhahah... plus, I heard that Lake Powell has a lot better fishing then most places. Here is a flash from the past picture of my fishing adventures at Lake Powell. Fabulous, right? ha Anyways... we went fishing for about 5 hours on Friday and NONE of us got anything, well, Papa Skousen got a big branch.... lol but that was about it. SO SAD! I caught a bit of a sunburn though, which was nice, cause it wasn't painful and it reminded me of summer! (cant wait)
The week leading up to Christmas was fun, mostly slow pace, mostly. We got sushi with my dad and sister, Raechel. That was a big treat!! We spent a lot of time with family, that was great.
Josh and I were able to get presents for everyone that they could use and that was personal, which was really cool! We got my mom a memory chip for her phone so she can store more then 10 pictures at a time, a cookbook from my old that my old ward put together, some pictures of the family, and a facebook!! (hahaha) We got my brother, Ryan, bb's and a new bb gun. We got my sister, Raechel, a visor mirror for her car, and we got my dad an 8X10 picture of a Spicy Tuna Hand Roll and had our friend print on the bottom of the picture, "every day should start and end with a spicy tuna hand roll" (he lovesssss those). Then we got Josh's parents the cookbook from my old ward, and then we got our secret Santa, which was Danny, Josh's younger brother, a new wallet. :)

What we got for Christmas;
Flannel Bed Sheets, Wireless Router for the Internet, Shoes for Josh, Snuggies!!!! (yes, for both of us!!!) pictures coming soon... :) ,Vitamins, Bunch of games (mancalla, scrabble, backgammon, and a puzzle), Tucanos gift certificate, other gift certificates, Clothes, Candy!, Money! etc It was a great Christmas!! But what was the most shocking present was what we got from the Duvall kids.... baby booties and a baby card.... I'm pretty sure our expression says it all.

NEW YEARS!!!
We have a great family tradition in my family of new years eve. My dad and uncles were raised in Arcadia, which is very close to Pasadena (where the Rose Parade is every year), and they used to go watch the floats set up the night before the parade and then go around the floats and go to this restaurant named Twoheys, have dessert, and watch the floats pass by there again. We still do this tradition today!! Pictures coming soon!!! After we were done, we went back to Murrieta. Josh and I went to his house in Temecula for the actual new year count down, it was really fun!!

Paul Mitchell The School

I finally was reunited with my beautiful school, Paul Mitchell!! I took a 5 ½ month leave! I finally got back and I bounced right into it again!! I didn’t realize how much I missed school and loved doing hair until I was gone; I never want to stop
doing it again!!!! Here is

some of my work since I have been back!! I did a photo shoot with Sarah, this beautiful girl that is in my ward. The theme was Halloween but not mandatory so I didn’t do the Halloween theme. I did a fall theme instead, there is only a few weeks, if that, in the whole year that the leaves are red, orange, yellow, green, purple, etc… and I figured that I would be done with school by time the leaves were like this next fall, so I did a fall theme with real leaves and I did Sarah’s hair in curls and her makeup classic, almost Marilyn Monroe style and with a net coming down over the face. The leaves were supposed to look like and act as if a hat and then the net came from the back of it. Anyways, here is the picture and let me know what you think!!! It was my first photo shoot of my work! BTW, this is just the picture taken from my camera phone, it's not the professional picture. That wont come out for another 4 to 6 weeks

Our new little home sweet home!!!

Well, is has been a couple months, and we finally got internet today at our house (2 months without it, I had to go to the BYU Library to go on the internet…) but now that it is conveniently in our little home, I can finally BLOG!! Yay!

It was not the easiest move in the world…

We had our contract start the 1st of August which was great that we had a place for sure, but it was a month earlier then when we needed. But then we got a call from Justin, the couple that was living in our house before us. He called and asked when we were planning on moving in and wondered if they could stay till the 15th of August and pay ½ the rent, we said SURE!! They said great, thank you so much and we will be out by the 15th! We didn’t hear from them until the 16th of august. We got a text message saying, “Hey, we were planning on moving out on the 15th but now we need to stay till the end of the month. I text him back and said, “Well, you really need to be out by the 25th at the latest. Brandon (the landlord) said that he would be replacing the carpet and cleaning it up a bit and he needs at least that long to do it.” Justin said back, “Yeah, that’s not going to be a problem. I will text you then and tell you where we hid the key.” And I said thanks back.

Well, the 25t comes and goes and we didn’t hear from him. The 25th was a Tuesday and we were leaving that Saturday, so I finally text him on Thursday night and said, “Hey, you forgot to tell us where you hid the keys.” And he text back saying, “Oh, yeah… I forgot to tell you… we actually decided to stay till the 2nd (of September).” When I got that text, I thought it was a joke… I was like whattt…? So I text him back and said, “I’m sorry, but you really need to move out. We will be to Utah Saturday night and with everything Brandon (the landlord) is doing to the house, it is going to take a while and if you don’t move out today, we will be homeless for a week! We need you to move out asap.” He text me back and said the rudest thing! He said, “I thought you summer sales people would be rollin in it and staying in the Ritz. We have lived in this house for 2 plus years now and we will leave when we want to.” Ohhhh boy when I read that I wanted to text him a punch in the face… but I don’t like drama and I try to be drama free, so I text him back and said, “Actually we didn’t do as well as we hoped so no rolling for us, and as far as leaving… you need to leave. We have a contract. I expect you out by tomorrow.” Of course he didn’t text back. I called and text him on Friday and all Saturday morning and no answer… So I finally called Brandon (the landlord) and told him the situation. Brandon text me about an hour or so after and said they were out. Hallelujah!!! (little did we know that they TRASHED the place, cause they are mature like that!)

Yes, they trashed the place. We got into Provo Sunday night, I stayed with my sister and Josh stayed with his friend. The next day was school for Josh and it was move in day for me. I called my landlord and asked when we would be able to move in and he said well, the door is open and you might want to go take a look at it. So I went over and yeah… there was shredded paper all over the front room, they spilt something sticky on the kitchen floor, nothing was vacuumed, mopped, cleaned, etc. there was sour milk and rotten veggies in the fridge, the entire freezer was iced over… I think that they put a bunch of water in it. There were 3 or 4 burnt chicken nuggets or some kind of meat in the oven on the bottom, the bathroom had mold all over the ceiling, and there were a few dirty boxers in a vent. And because of all this, the landlord did not have time to replace the carpet… the greasy pink carpet with brown stains and a smell of dog pee to it (the last people had a dog). That was just the inside… the outside of the house was just as bad. Weeds up to my hips, no joke, there was a huge water leak in the front yard which created a little mini swamp, dead grass, and the trash can was full and over flowing… blah, so depressing.

What we did to fix it all; candles almost 24/7, major house cleaning, watered the ‘dirt’ as my sister called it (but now it is grass, (YAY!), finally got the carpet replaced 2 weeks ago, repainted the hall way white (it was really damaged and off color), and yep… made it a home. :)

So needless to say... it was definitely something that was a long hard process but we finally have it all done and SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Changing the carpet was the 1 thing that totally turned the house from miserable to amazing!! I will put pictures up as soon as I have them!!

This = a HEADACHE!!!!

I had a big headache yesterday, and I think I know why...... STRESSSSSSS

1. We have 4 more sales to get to make this whole summer sales thing to even be worth it and we have 3 or 4 days to do it in....

2. Once we leave, this Saturday, we have to make the 23 hour drive and get there by Sunday night which means that there is no stop to rest... We have to drive the whole way there! When we made the trip here, we stopped in a hotel for a night and got some proper rest, this time we can't! We have to be there by Sunday night because Josh starts school bright and early Monday morning.

3. The house we are moving into still have people in it, which was not going to be a problem cause they were going to move out in time for the carpets to be cleaned and then for us to move in, but last night I found out that the people were not going to be moving out till September 1st, and that is Tuesday, 2 days after we move to Provo.... and then on top of that, our landlord said he was going to be replacing the carpet (which is a good thing, yay!) but that is going to take longer then cleaning the carpets.... so the people will be moving out Tuesday and then carpets will be replaced starting Tuesday and who knows how long that is going to take...... SOOO... Josh and I are going to be homeless for about a week or so.... FUN FUN FUN

4. The entire house is not furnished, which is fine because we have everything we need, but it is in a storage unit in Spanish Fork, and If all of it is not out by the 9th of the month, we will have to pay another month of storage... and I am afraid that we wont even be in the house by the 9th.... and we can't afford to be spending another 65 bucks!!!

5. Josh and I need to find jobs once we get back into Provo... nuff said there.....

6. Once we get into our cute lil house, I am going to be the one setting up the entire house by myself cause josh will be in school and have a parade of HW already.... :/

7. On top of all of this, I am throwing a baby shower for one of my close friends, which is awesome, I am really excited to, but it is a lot of hard work... ya know?

8. AND on top of all that, I am really wanting to go visit one of my other really close friends, Channing, who just had a cute lil baby!!! She lives in the Burg though and I don't know if i am going to have time with everything that is going on already in my life!!!

9. All of this stuff is going to be happening in a 2 week period (except for 7 and 8).....

Solutions to most of my problems!!! YAYAYAYAY!

1. Josh got 2 sales yesterday and so now we only have to get 2 more!!! YAYAY!

2. If josh gets 2 more within 2 days, we can leave earlier and not be so rushed! YAYAY!!

3. I finally got a hold of both my landlord and the people living in our house now, and they are seeing what they can do about moving out earlier. YAYAY and I already made arrangements for both Josh and I to stay at friend's houses. I will stay with my sister, Raechel, and Josh will stay with his friend Jimmy. We won't be together, which is sad, but it will be fun for us to spend time with friends and family! YAYAY

4. I called the storage unit and explained our situation and the said that they prorate. YAYAY!!!

5. Finding a job is still going to be stressful, But both Josh and I have a few things lined up for when we get there, hopefully they work out...

6. I will have 2 lil helpers to help me get my house organized, my sister, Raechel, and her girlfriend, Lily. I just called and asked them to help and they said, duh..... YAYAY!!!

7. I am still throwing a baby shower which will be a lot of fun, and I have my sister and Lily to help me with it, and it does not seem as stressful cause everything else is ok! YAYAY!!!

8. I still want to visit Channing and her lil family, and that is still a work in progress... Does anyone wanna carpool?? haha

Creepy Crawlers NOT WELCOME!

Here in Indiana, there are creepy crawlers EVERYWHERE! I hate it, they have made me crazy! I randomly find beetles in my laundry, my kitchen floor, in my closet, etc. Josh and I were watching a movie the other night and he felt something brushing against his arm... a millipede... yeah, don't worry, they ARE poisonous... He jumped up real quick and I flipped out, I hate creepy crawlers! Oh, we have spiders everywhere... I HATE HATE HATE spiders. I have arachnophobia. (((It all started in 7th grade, I had a sleep over at my friend's house and we slept in her (under construction) gazebo and I woke up in the morning to her tickling my arm, I told her to stop... and she answered on the other side of the gazebo, "what are you talking about..." I looked at my arm where I was 'being ticked', and it was not her innocent fingers, it was a HUGE Tarantula wolf spider... I brushed it off of me, it landed at the end of my sleeping bag, and then it started bouncing back up towards me... I about peed my pants. Ever since then, I have such a fear of spiders...))) But anyways, there are these Jumping spiders here, and they always seem to make an appearance when Josh is not home... NOT COOL! So I have created this habit, whenever I am walking in the dark, which I try not to do at all, when I turn on the light, the first thing I do is look down at my feet to make sure there are no spiders, millipedes, beetles, etc... My feet look like this... I have my toes up and everything---JUST-IN-CASE---. And when I say my prayers at night, I kneel on the bed now... I am so paranoid.... I CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO UTAH!!! 8 more days!!!

So I guess I forgot about this until I saw someone post something about their blogs... sorry blog...
Well, Josh and I are almost done here in Indianapolis, whew! It really was a great experience but we will defiantly never do this again. We can't anyways, Josh has to do an internship next summer. That's something else we soon have to worry about in and of itself....
My hair is growing out, YAY! When I got it cut last year (yes, 2 or 3 months before my wedding....) I was happy at first and then like a week or 2 went by and I was sooo upset. I think it really hit me when Josh saw it for the first time.... his eyes said it all. It's not like he didn't like it, it was just... different. BUT now it is getting long, woo hoo! so everyone reading this, do NOT let me cut my hair short, EVERRRRRR! hahaah.
What else?? Oh, I am so ready to get back to school, I miss cutting and coloring hair, deep conditions, etc... idk, it's my passion and I have been away too long! The break was great, but I wish it could have been shorter. I am also looking for a part time job.. seems impossible to find one, at least through craiglist cause like everything is a freaking scam! makes me so mad that that's how people try and make money... to just rip people off via Internet.... hey, maybe I should do that.... how do I get started! Haha! JK!
Josh is getting back to school too, he made it into his program!! He got his acceptance in like May, so we have known for a while. He is looking to get a job with his friend Tyler who works with computers to improve his resume. I am hoping that they are still hiring when we get back in 2 weeks!
We decided that we are going to go on a cruise this December! We are going to with a few of our friends, Josh's missionary friends! We are going to go to Mexico, not Ensenada.... haha, that was great for a honeymoon, but now we are more interested in the sights then... other things. :) The cruise is week long and we are really excited.
The home we are moving into is nice! 2 bed, 1 bath, kitchen, and living room. It has a bigger kitchen and bigger front room then our last house. The bed rooms are a tad smaller, but it's ok. Not by much, not a big deal. It's in the same ward as our last (that was a BIG seller point for us!!)
I'm pretty sure that is about it as far as anything new or any of our recent activities.... We are taking pictures professionally very soon, I will upload them as soon as I figure out how.....

Paul Mitchell The School

I am in beauty school at Paul Michell. I love it soo much!! I have been obsessed with hair for as long as I can remember... My sister can testify to that, I used to make her some into my room and I would do her hair in a lot of different styles. So, needless to say, I am in the right place.

I am doing day school, Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm, so it is going to take me 2 years to complete!! I want to graduate faster, so I am going to try and sub for as many people as i can on Fridays and Saturdays!

I will keep you updated on all the different things that I do!! I am going to take pictures and then post them on here!!

Married Provo, not Single Provo

Well, I am married, that is no secret. Life is great being married, we are still trying to get used to it, but it is good change! I love being married to my best friend. This is the happiest time of my life!

There are a lot of good things about being married, but some things that I never expected. Most of my old friends just stoped talking to me, as if I died or something... like, BOOM, you are married, sorry, you are not allowed to have contact with the single people... it is forbidden... :( I miss my friends. Brooke is about the only person that talks to me, and it is not every day that we talk.

Provo is a whole different place when you are married. No more parties, no more racing the cute guy in the car next to you, no more girls night out, cause all they want to do is go see boys... thats awkward... It is very different. I know that I sound like I am complaining, but I'm not. I love being married, I would not trade it for the world. I just think that Provo is a place for single people. Soon as I get used to being married more, I think that I will like it more. I better get used to it, cause I am going to be here for another 3 years... woot woot...
